Dr. Bana Ball is more than just a board-certified pediatric dentist. In fact, she is a mother of two young children, Nikou and Nila. She loves spending time with her little ones and her husband, Mark, a urologic oncologist at the NIH. Dr. Ball is a comedy enthusiast, a crossword and jigsaw puzzle fan, an adventure traveler, a nature lover, and an aspiring yogi.
Dr. Ball completed her residency training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Maryland, serving as Chief Resident during her final year. As part of Dr. Ball’s residency training, she co-wrote the Guidelines on Restorative Dentistry for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, based on an extensive evidence-based review of the dental literature, giving her unparalleled expertise in dental materials.
After attending Centre College on a full academic scholarship and graduating summa cum laude, she received her dental degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010, graduating at the top of her class. She worked as a general dentist for a few years after dental school, and it was during this time that she realized her passion for working with children. Returning to school for specialty training in pediatric dentistry became an easy choice, and she hasn’t looked back since. Dr. Ball considers it an honor and a privilege to be entrusted with caring for children.
Dr. Bana Ball has completed the rigorous certification process by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). Her certification displays her dedication to excellence in the field of pediatric dentistry and showcases her continued education, so you can rest assured that your children are receiving up-to-date, effective treatment from an expert who truly cares. All pediatric dentists (in contrast to general dentists or “family dentists”) have an additional 2-3 years of specialized training, but not all pediatric dental specialists are board certified. Board Certification shows a commitment to providing the highest level of care.
At Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry, we create treatment plans for every child based on their own personal dental profile. With a non-corporate, non-cookie-cutter approach to dentistry, your child will always see the same dentist for continuity of care. We work as a team alongside parents to provide evidence-based, minimally invasive, and conservative dental treatment options.
