Dr. Ball is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the founder of Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry. A mother of two young children, she has said that pediatric dentistry is the perfect field for her for a number of reasons:
“First of all, kids are funny and adorable, and I love to joke around and laugh. Second, I love teaching and explaining things, and kids are innately curious and therefore make for a great audience. Third, I love preventive care and feeling like I'm making a difference, so I treasure the opportunity that I have to help kids and their parents get off to a healthy start and hopefully avoid having negative dental experiences in childhood or later in life.”
Our office is designed for the comfort of your children. Little ones should not be scared of going to the dentist, so we strive to create a non-threatening environment that will get kids excited about taking care of their smiles. Not only are there TVs in the ceilings of the treatment rooms to have visual entertainment while reclined in the dental chair, plenty of books and toys are also available to make any downtime fun. (Due to COVID precautions, some of the original plans for what will be available must be modified, sadly).
The same comforts are also available in the open hygiene bay, which has two chairs so siblings can be seated side-by-side.
From your infant’s first dental exam in our Baby Room to early interceptive orthodontics and HealthyStart™, Dr. Ball and the rest of the Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry team have your family covered. Dr. Ball stays up-to-date with modern dental therapies, so that she can be at the forefront of pediatric dentistry. She also has hospital privileges and is on staff at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, where she is able to provide dental care to children under general anesthesia. So if your child requires major treatment, they will be treated by someone that they, and you, already know and trust. The anesthesiologist who will manage the sedation is Dr. Aaron Zuckerberg, who is an experienced and highly skilled Hopkins-trained pediatric anesthesiologist, and somebody you will love, guaranteed.
Starting good dental hygiene habits early is crucial for the health of your children. At Shady Grove Pediatric Dentistry, we strive to educate parents and children to create those habits that will last a lifetime. We look forward to meeting you!
